More fraudulent unemployment claims filed | News, Sports, Jobs



LAMAR — State police at Lamar are continuing to receive reports of identity theft. Police have received five reports between July 12 and 24 where county residents’ names were used to file unemployment claims.

They include:

— A 44-year-old Mill Hall man on July 17 reported an unknown indiviudal used his name to apply for unemployment benefits in Lamar Township.

— A 25-year-old Mill Hall man on July 20 reported his name being used to file for unemployment in Bald Eagle Township.

— A 61-year-old Mill Hall man on July 23 reported a fraudulent unemployment claim using his name in Porter Township.

— A 45-year-old Renovo man also reported an attempted use of his name for an unemployment claim on July 23 in Renovo.

— A 54-year-old Mill Hall woman reported an attempted unemployment claim scam to police on July 24 in Lamar Township.

All five incidents are listed at under investigation, according to police reports.
