How you can beat Florida's unemployment system

People are complaining that there are broken links in their account that prevent them from claiming weeks and receiving unemployment payments.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — New glitches are plaguing Florida’s unemployment website this month since the system made everyone reapply for benefits.

People are complaining that there are broken links in their account that prevent them from claiming weeks and receiving unemployment payments.

Unemployment expert Vanessa Brito went to work to find a solution to this problem.

“Instead of people just applying, submitting, and just moving on, we saw an application loop,” Brito said.

Meaning, even after already applying for an unemployment program, people are being prompted to apply again, and again.

“That means whatever link was in its place, which is usually ‘request benefit weeks,’ what you need to request benefits payments, goes away,” Brito said.

Without claiming weeks, unemployed Floridians cannot receive unemployment payments.

People are reporting other broken links on their portals, such as account settings and payment history.

Brito and an anonymous IT expert within the Department of Economic Opportunity went to work to figure out how to get around the glitch.

“We were able to figure out that once we were able to copy a functional link from an active claim into another claim that is already logged in that’s missing a link, it functions exactly the way it is supposed to,” Brito said.

  • First, log onto your CONNECT account.
  • Copy the link listed at the end of this article and paste in a separate tab on your browser.

It will bypass the application error and take you straight to the page where you can request benefits.

“It’s a cheat code,” Brito said.

Brito posted the new secret on her Facebook page, and users are confirming it worked for them.

These are the categories of links that have been reported as broken on CONNECT. Brito and her anonymous DEO IT expert developed the links below to take you to your missing page.

Do not directly click the links listed, they need to be copied and pasted into your browser after you sign into your CONNECT account in a different tab on your browser.
